LOCAL ORGANIC FARMING

Ryan will discuss the history of the Red Fire Farm in Granby, MA and the recent expansion of the farm in Montague, MA.

He will detail the advantages of Community Supported Agriculture.

 

“We’d like to share our thoughts about how and why we farm the way we do.  At Red Fire Farm we believe that there is a better way to farm than the chemical status quo that has dominated the American landscape and food system during the last half century.”

 

NOTE: 

Only if there is “NO SCHOOL” for EL schools due to weather, our meeting will be postponed until Thursday, March 1st.

JOHN BURNEY

Owner of Meadowbrook Farm

In East Longmeadow, Massachusetts

 

John will review his recent trip to Ethiopia where he visited an established farm.  He will also review his trip to Sudan where he is helping to establish a working farm similar to the farm in Ethiopia.  This is his most recent trip to Africa where he and a colleague have been helping farmers to implement the best practices so that production can be increased.
